Shark Safety

Stay away from swimming on the False Bay side, the water is warmer there with more food sources for sharks. Surfing/Swimming around the beaches in town or Blouberg is generally fine. Wear a wetsuit in the colder months.

Surfing / SUP

Wind Surfing

Sunset Beach, Rietvlei, Big Bay. Equipment rental available at local surf shops.

Kite Surfing

Diving (SCUBA)

Cold waters but beautiful underwater sceneries. Kelp forests, octopie, and shy-sharks. Various levels and types of dives are available.

Diving with PADI

Shore entries at Simons Town and Twelve Apostels, as well as wreck and boat dives. Various operators available.

Aquarium Diving
